A special event called the "Tow at Air" challenge featured some of the top surfers in California and the United States, according to the Billabong website. The Tow at Air division had a minimum of prizes worth $2,500 with $1,000 each for the members of the winning team, contributed by Bonzai Bowls and Cool Cats. In the Tow at Air the surfer is pulled by water craft at high speeds directly at the waves and with the extra speed the surfer can perform more acrobatics in the air while surfing. |
The winners of each of the kids divisions and of the Pro-Am were also awarded a complete skateboard from Section 9. |
There was also a non-profit fund raiser concert and a raffle in downtown Pismo Beach on Friday night with additional festivities and raffles on Saturday night. |
