Pismo State Beach is 17 miles long.  It stretches from the town of Pismo Beach to the south.  

Grover Beach and Oceano are the two towns directly to the south that front on Pismo State Beach.  

Pismo Dunes and Oceano Dunes are adjacent to the beach and often stretch a large distance inland. 

The Pismo Pier recreational area located at the town of Pismo Beach includes 60 acres of beach and facilities.  Volleyball courts, a childrens' playground with equipment, benches, a promenade along the beach, restrooms and showers are available. 

South of the Pismo Pier and Promenade area is the Monarch Butterfly Preserve and the Pismo Beach Golf Course. 

The Pismo Creek offers a wide variety of birdlife for birdwatching. 

Activities include swimming, surfing, beachcombing, walking out on the pier, fishing off the pier, walking dogs on the pet friendly beach (clean up is required), building sandcastles, sunbathing, sunset watching, live music, events at the pier, festivals for classic cars, both casual and fine dining, live music at the local venues and more.
